We're in Good Company at EXIT Realty; A Commentary by Tami Bonnell, President, US Organization

Via The Team at EXIT Realty:

Tami Bonnell, President US Organization, EXIT Realty Corp. InternationalDid you know that the renowned Internet search engine GoogleTM started around the same time as EXIT Realty? Imagine, a new company with an innovative idea and a different name wanting to revolutionize their industry? Can you picture the conversations that went on behind the scenes and the competition saying, "They will never make it," "What were they thinking?" and "The audacity of a new venture wanting to provide what the client is looking for."

If you follow what top business advisors and economists are saying today's businesses require for staying power, it becomes clear that employees want a vested interest.  They want a plan to get passionate about, that they can contribute to, where they are part of the organization.

EXIT Realty Corp. International started with Founder and CEO, Steve Morris looking for solutions to the many problems that real estate professionals throughout the industry were facing. Everything from the passing down of wisdom between associates, to quality of life, was kept top of mind when EXIT Realty was created. The best surprise has been how much all of our people have worked together to help each other and always be a part of the solution.

EXIT Realty Corp. International celebrated its 12-year anniversary on September 3rd, and the amount we have accomplished every year, not to mention the speed in which it is accomplished is incredible! With the current climate in the marketplace, it certainly makes it easier to do our job when we know we are making giant strides in the right direction. We have become one of the major contenders in an industry where the majority of larger players have been in business for 35 years or more!

When I look at different successful companies from other industries, it's the passionate people involved that make or break an organization. Here at EXIT Realty so many of you are exceeding our expectations and for that very reason we are in very good company indeed.

Via The Team at EXIT Realty:

The feedback is in from last Friday's EXIT Realty Corp. International webinar entitled "Low- and No-Cost Ways to Take Your Electronic Marketing to the Next Level" showing overwhelming support for both the subject matter and method of training.

Hundreds of EXIT Realty brokers and sales representatives attended the session co-hosted by Susan Harrison, EXIT's Sr. VP Web Development, Tom Emmendorfer, Co-Founder of the company behind EXIT e-Listings and Frank D'Angelo, Franchisee of EXIT Realty Executives in MN, where they learned how to marry the cutting-edge technology of EXIT e-Listings with the power of social networking.

Building on D'Angelo's hugely popular Convention break-out session, "Congratulations, you've got the listing! Now what?", his 12-step program showed how in just a few minutes a week, EXIT agents can easily ramp up their electronic marketing efforts. One attendee commented, "WOW !! That's all I can say. PLEASE insure that I receive the follow-up notes and question list from this feature. The future looks incredibly bright with EXIT and I cannot wait!"

EXIT Associates can download a copy of D'Angelo's 12 Steps from the EXIT Resource Center by clicking here.

"We are very pleased with the feedback we've received," said Harrison.  "We're planning an encore presentation."

Real Estate Leader Bettie Olson Gives Strategies to Prepare for a Positive Turn in the Real Estate Market (Part 4 in a 6 part series)

Via The Team at EXIT Realty:

EXIT Realty Corp. International CEO & Founder, Steve Morris, announced recently that he expects the real estate market to begin to turn around in the second quarter of 2009. With this in mind, EXIT asked some of its key regional leaders, "With the bottom of the real estate market being formally announced by the end of the 2nd quarter of 2009, what 3 strategies would you give both a broker and a sales representative to prepare accordingly?"

"Tell everyone you see that you are in the business of real estate, and that you want their business!," stated Bettie Olson, Regional Owner of EXIT Realty Alabama in a presentation at EXIT Realty's 10th Annual Convention held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, TN.

Olson's three strategies are:

1.  Don't dwell on the bad news. "The news media is killing us!" she commented. Keep a positive mental attitude and surround yourself with positive people.

2.  Get involved and put some fun into meetings. "Feed them and they will come! Plan a monthly get together and invite outside agents with whom you've closed deals. Get involved with local and state functions and community activities.

3.  "Brokers, don't be afraid to take on new agents. "We have the best training in the world, and new agents are trainable!" said Olson.

"It's important for agents and brokers to stay close, right now. Be a united, positive voice of real estate in your community." Olson concluded.

EXIT Realty and Habitat for Humanity Make Home Ownership Dreams Come True in Fredericton, NB

Via The Team at EXIT Realty:

EXIT Realty Corp. International - Habitat for Humanity Canada

EXIT Realty Corp. International - Fredericton, NB Habitat for Humanity BuildSince 2004, EXIT Realty Corp. International has been the proud Corporate Sponsor of ten home builds for Habitat for Humanity.  One of the most recent is concluding in Fredericton, New Brunswick and EXIT Realty's Habitat for Humanity liaison, Christine Ireborg, visited the building site.

"EXIT Realty couldn't be a prouder sponsor of Habitat for Humanity," Ireborg said.  "We wanted to identify with an organization that shares our values and philosophies; an organization based on giving back, transforming lives by providing new homes and a higher standard of living to individuals in the local communities."

EXIT Realty Corp. International - Fredericton, NB Habitat for Humanity BuildDuring her visit, Ireborg interviewed Deanne Boudreau, the proud recipient of this home.  "We'll be moving in with our four children. It was like winning the lottery," Boudreau exclaimed.  "Our family is finally going to have a home. The first thing my daughter said was, 'We never have to move again, do we?' I told her, no this is permanent. We actually have a place for a dining room table! I just want to say that it's changed our lives - it's changed our kids' lives. I need to thank EXIT Realty - thank you for everything you've done."

The Boudreaus, like every Habitat recipient family, are rigorously screened and are required to spend many hours in "sweat equity" on their own home and the homes of others.  Habitat's philosophy is "a hand up, not a hand out."

EXIT Realty Corp. International - Fredericton, NB Habitat for Humanity BuildEXIT Realty associates from far and wide took part in the build.  EXIT Realty Advantage Franchisee, Philip Duplisea, had this to say: "We're fortunate this year to get involved with the Habitat build. It has been really exciting - the house is going up very quickly. We've had lots of good help from the community and from the EXIT agents. It's been a great team-building experience for us here at EXIT; planning, getting things organized, seeing everyone chip in and come with their hammers and steel-toed sneakers. We've accomplished a lot."

The dedication of this home is scheduled for December 15th at 4:00 p.m.

About EXIT Realty: As a reward for assisting in the growth of the company, EXIT associates earn residual income equivalent to 10% of the gross commission of agents referred into the EXIT system anywhere in North America. The residuals continue after death to the associate's beneficiary at 5%. Kevin Ahearn's EXIT Realty Sales Training "Absolutely Spectacular"

Via The Team at EXIT Realty:

The following letter was written by Kate Mammen, a Sales Representative with EXIT Realty Advantage, NB, to Franchisee, Philip Duplisea, President of EXIT Realty's Canadian Operation, Joyce Paron, and EXIT Realty Founder & CEO, Steve Morris

Dear Philip, Joyce, and Steve,

Kate Mammen, Sales Representative, EXIT Realty AdvantageI just wanted to let you know that the training we had today by Kevin Ahearn was nothing less than ‘ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR'.

The content was informative, provocative, and superlatively delivered.

You know that I've attended a lot of the training provided, and, Philip, I think I've shared with you what has worked (for me). I have to say that today's training, however, has resonated with me in a way that no other has.

Kevin has been able to make us all feel that we can do what he has outlined, just as well as he can do it himself. He has led us through the most remarkable listing presentation, all the while assuring us that ‘Yes ... You can do this too'. He has allowed us some artistic license, in deference to our own nuances of language which, as you can appreciate, is particularly important to a foreigner ‘Aussie' like me! Above all, he has been able to teach those in the industry who have been around for some time things they may have forgotten, and for those who are newer to the profession, things they need to know now!

I had the great fortune to have my first sponsor attend training today and he was ecstatic. He gave me a big hug at the end of the day and said, "Kate, I was never in doubt that I had joined the right company, or found the right sponsor, but now I absolutely know it ... there's absolutely no doubt in my mind ... I'm so very happy .... Thank you."

Wow! How could we all have done better than that - for someone's first day on the job? I now would like to thank you all for making that opportunity, that hug and huge smile from my sponsor to me, possible.

Steve and Joyce, thanks for providing us with the calibre of people the likes of Kevin Ahearn. I can assure you that after Kevin's presence today and tomorrow, the following live interactive training days in the boardroom will be ‘packed to the rafters' as we say Down Under.

Good night, and once again,

Thank you all

Real Estate Leader Brad Fennell Gives Strategies to Prepare for a Positive Turn in the Real Estate Market (Part 3 in a 6 part series)

"A positive attitude is first and foremost," according to Brad Fennell, Regional Owner of EXIT Realty Ohio, in a presentation at EXIT Realty's 10th Annual Convention held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, TN.

Brad Fennell, Regional Owner, EXIT Realty OhioFennell's three strategies are:

1. Refine and Redefine.   "Take a good hard look at how you're running your business," he said.   "Surround yourself with good people."   Do you really need all that office space or can you downsize or renegotiate your lease?   Where are you spending your marketing dollars?   Create a business plan and a strict budget and stick to it.

2.   Employ new systems and tools. "Agents must leave the mindset of traditional real estate and think outside the box," he said.   "But, and it is a big BUT, the agent must understand all that is necessary to unleash the power of the technology, from how Internet leads are different and how what they have been told by traditional trainers over the past twenty years, may not be the most effective and efficient way any longer."

3.   Accountability.   "In the end it comes down to getting out of bed and going to work."   Maintain your ethics, don't compromise your reputation - it takes years to build and only minutes to destroy.

"I view this as an opportunity market and a cleansing process," Fennell concluded.   "We will reinvent ourselves and find new and better ways to generate business and make money.   These will only serve to further position us for success when the market turns around."

Real Estate Secretaries and Administrators Are Important Industry Leaders

Via The Team at EXIT Realty:

Leadership in the real estate industry takes on many forms, not the least of which is the role of office Administrator.  We at EXIT Realty Corp. International believe so strongly in the contribution made by our Administrators that we built a Secretarial Bonus right into the EXIT Formula.  A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT International is put aside and paid out to our offices' secretarial and administrative staff as a special thank you from Head Office for a job well-done.  Since 2000, we've paid out over $1 Million in secretarial bonuses.

EXIT Realty Corp. International - Sharron Richardson, Manager, Franchise SupportIt's the job of EXIT's Franchise Support Department to train and support our Administrators in all things EXIT.  Heading up the team is Manager, Sharron Richardson.  "In my experience, after working over 30 years, I have found you can break workers down into two distinct groups. One group believes the company owes them a paycheck simply because they showed up. The other group believes they owe the company a solid day's work, and in return, receive a paycheck for their efforts," she says.  "You have to be invited to join EXIT - we're a pretty exclusive group. Therefore it goes without saying that we are looking for the latter, those distinct and rare people who get great satisfaction out of doing a job well. We have high expectations of everyone at EXIT throughout the entire corporation and we won't settle for less."  These expectations, of course, extend to our Administrators.

"We expect our Administrators to put procedures and policies in place in their offices that place accountability where it belongs, and prevent problems and disagreements down the road," she says. "Administrators are leaders who should set the standards for conduct in the office and accept nothing less."

Regardless of your role in the real estate industry; sales representative, broker/owner, regional owner, support staff - are you the kind of person who shows up with the goal to make a positive impact on your circle of influence? Do you show up determined to give everything you've got because you want to, not because you have to? Are you grateful for your opportunities?  Do you give the business of Real Estate a good name?
