Tweetdeck: An Addiction in the Making?

One of the most common questions asked by real estate agents regarding social media is, "How am I supposed to keep track of everything?"  Having asked the same question myself, I recently started using Tweetdeck, a free "personal browser" to help me keep track of tweets, followers, DMs and all the other things swimming around in my brain thanks to Twitter.  After a few short days, I don't know what I did without it.  Ugh.

I have 9 columns that automatically update me on various search terms like "real estate" and technology as well as the obvious "exit realty".  This is a good thing, right?  Well you'd think so, except for the fact that I keep looking at it all day long.  It taunts me there in my task bar.  A little warble alerts me to new posts.  I'm tweeting more.  Uh-oh.

A so-called expert once told me that the optimum number of tweets per day is 22.  I don't remember why that was optimum, I just remember that it seemed exorbitant at the time.  Now, not so much.  I wonder if there is a twelve-step program for compulsive tweeters.

I have to go now; it has been a full 10 minutes since I checked for updates.  Hello world, my name is Susan and I'm a tweeter.

Tweet away Susan!  It appears you have a good handle on Twitter.  I tried the Tweetdeck but didn't keep up with it.  I'll have another go after reading your blog.

Hiya Susan - I'd recommend you give it another shot - choose a couple of search terms you want to keep track of - it also helps you to reply, shorten URLs, etc easily.

You can't possibly keep up with everything going on.  I'm seeing more and more people with social media burnout, because they think that if they miss something on one of the various networks that they participate on, then they don't exist.  Tweetdeck is just one of many great tools that help you track your life on one of the most popular networks, Twitter, but don't let it run your life.  Otherwise, when will you have the time to do those things that you actually get paid for?

I do have a 12 step program Susan, however not for all these SN time suckers... Mega addicting aren't they????

I enjoy telling all from one simple source www.ping.fm  It posts to the majority of my registered Social networks in one post.  In fact, I'll do it from my phone to tell the world I'm showing homes on the lake etc...  Only limitation is 160 characters per post... That's a good thing if I'm driving :)

See you in DC soon :)
